Advertiser Wizard

To assist with onboarding, we aimed to create a wizard that simplifies the process, allowing customers to start using the platform with only essential information.

  • Scope: Design User Flow
  • Role: Research, Concept & Visual Identity
  • Tools: Figma & HTML
  • Collaborators: Product Owner, UX Writer & Engineers

Existing Product & Problem

Existing profile completion example. A user has no guidance.

When customers first see the platform, they don’t know what to do next to create a profile. To get the most from their account and to get a publisher’s interest, they need to upload a logo, write a description and then upload important terms documentation.

Research

Research showing other platforms and how they onboard new users

I researched common onboarding patterns, noting how platforms like Airbnb use icons and progress indicators to simplify forms. Then, I collaborated with the Product Owner to interview stakeholders and account managers to understand user and business needs for creating a profile.

Ideation

Interim solution, using hint cards/a walkthrough to help a user

I worked with engineers to create an interim solution since the user lobby would go live before the profile wizard. Collaborating with the UX Writer, we introduced hint cards to guide users through the current profile pages and navigate to the onboarding lobby upon completion.

I developed options for the interim profile overview page based on customer needs. Inspired by other platforms, I split up the lengthy form process. Collaborating with colleagues, we reduced the content to save customers time and chose a design that aligns with other platform wizards for consistency.

Outcome

The final design guides a customer through the process of providing the necessary information to have a fully working account. The process is now split up into three steps, making it easier for a customer to follow and reducing any anxiety as the form process now looks less intimidating.
